Badi Panahi

Badi Panahi (born October 8, 1935 in Tehran , Iran ; † May 3, 2008 in Nuremberg , Germany ) was an Iranian-German social scientist . He lived in Germany since 1956. As a Bahai , he published numerous articles on his religion.

Life

Badi Panahi was born the third of five siblings. He studied social sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and received his doctorate with a thesis on the importance of psychoanalysis for the social sciences (grade: Magna cum Laude ).

He was chairman of the International Society for Prejudice and Peace Research , which includes numerous renowned scientists and university professors from all over the world. In Germany he was best known for his radio lectures.

Badi Panahi was married and had three children and six grandchildren. He was related to the British comedian and actor Omid Djalili .

His main works in the field of social sciences are:

  • The relationship between psychoanalysis and social science
  • Studies in philosophy of natural and social science
  • The scientific and philosophical foundations of depth psychology and modern psychotherapy
  • Prejudices: racism, anti-Semitism, nationalism in the Federal Republic today. An empirical study.

In addition, the author has written numerous essays and articles on various scientific and philosophical topics.

These works received a considerable response in the press at home and abroad. They were especially taken up with great interest by renowned philosophers and scientists such as Herbert Marcuse ( University of California , San Diego ) or Adolf Grünbaum ( University of Pittsburgh ) and numerous others. At the time, Max Horkheimer wrote about the author: "Badi Panahi is, according to my firm conviction, one of the most talented young scientists I have met." In addition to knowledge of European and Oriental languages, he had a rare wealth of social science experience, and not only in Meaning of knowledge of methods, but also of productive spiritual devotion.
