Badruddin Faiz Hasan Badruddin Tyabji (born November 12, 1907 in Bombay , † December 28, 1995 in New Delhi ) was an Indian diplomat and author .

Life

Badruddin Faiz Hasan Badruddin Tyabji comes from the well-known Bombay Tyabji family. His grandfather Badruddin Tyabji was a lawyer and later the first local judge at the Bombay High Court . He was one of the founders of the Indian National Congress and was its president in Madras in 1887 . His father, Faiz Badruddin Tyabji, was also an attorney and judge on the Bombay High Court.

Tyabji entered the Indian Civil Service in 1931 . Until 1942 he was employed by the government of Punjab and was first Deputy Secretary for Planning and then Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat of the Constituent Assembly of India and in the Foreign and Commonwealth Ministry.

From 1948 he was chargé d'affaires in Brussels , Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External affairs and ultimately to 1953 Commonwealth Secretary.

From 1954 Tyabji was ambassador for Jakarta , Tehran and Bonn until he became Special Secretary for External Affairs in 1962. From 1962 to 1965 he was Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University .

In 1965 he was ambassador to Tokyo .

He published his memoirs in 1988 under the title Memoirs of an egoist and in 1994 under the title More memoirs of an egoist .
