Baghpat ( Hindi : बाघपत) is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Baghpat is located in the north Indian plain on the east bank of the Yamuna, 35 km north of the federal capital New Delhi . The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .
The national highway NH 334B ( Sonipat - Meerut ) and the Uttar-Pradesh highway 57 ( Ghaziabad - Shamli ) cross in Baghpat. As a city, Baghpat has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . At the 2011 census, Baghpat had 50,310 inhabitants.
