The Auer train station ( Italian: Stazione di Ora ) is located on the Brenner Railway in the south of South Tyrol . It is the most important stopping point in the lowlands .

location

The Auer train station is located at an altitude of 223  m to the left of the Adige in the valley floor of the Unterland north of the center of the Aurora. As the intersection of the SS 12 and the SS 48, as well as its proximity to the Neumarkt-Auer-Tramin exit of the A22, Auer is an important traffic junction in road traffic. Directly south of the train station is an industrial park.

history

The Auer station was opened in 1859 at the same time as the section of the Brenner Railway from Verona through the Adige Valley to Bolzano was completed . In 1917, the terminus of the Fiemme Valley Railway, which was closed in 1963, went into operation in the immediate vicinity , which further strengthened the strategic importance of the station. During the Second World War , the train station built by Ernst Hranatsch was bombed and destroyed.

In 1947 the reception building was rebuilt in a modified form according to plans by Roberto Narducci . In the 1980s, roofs were built on the railway tracks and an underpass, after 2000 extensive redesign work was carried out around the building and a spacious P + R area was created.

Buildings

The reception building of the Auer station is stylistically based on the rationalist architecture of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane from the time of fascism . The two-storey service wing is supplemented by a one-storey extension and a loggia on the track. The three-part portal is made of Bozen quartz porphyry ; the corners of the house, bases and loggia pillars are designed with coarse porphyry bases. There are also two storage buildings in the vicinity of the station.

function

From an operational point of view, the Auer station has only been a stopping point since 2004 . It is served by regional trains from Trenitalia and SAD , which also operates several bus connections to the station. Thanks to its good connections for private and local public transport, the Auer station has a central function for the catchment area Unterland and Fiemme Valley .
