List of train stations in Italy |
The Branzoll train station ( Italian: Stazione di Bronzolo ) is located on the Brenner Railway in the south of South Tyrol .
location
Branzoll train station is 228 m above sea level to the left of the Adige in the municipality of Branzoll in the Unterland . In contrast to the other South Tyrolean train stations south of Bolzano, it is in the immediate vicinity of the town center.
history
When the section of the Brenner Railway from Verona through the Adige Valley to Bolzano was opened in 1859 , the old Adige port in Branzoll suddenly lost its importance. The town, which initially did not have a train station, lost a lot of economic substance. At the end of the 19th century, the construction of the station brought about an economic upswing, as the local agricultural products and in particular the porphyry mined behind the village could be loaded. During the First World War and after the outbreak of the Mountain War , Branzoll developed into the most important Austrian military station on the southern front from 1915.
In 2001, the reception building was thoroughly renovated, and platform roofs and an underpass were built. Also were P + R applied courts.
Buildings
The reception building is stylistically based on the Italian villa architecture. The elongated, two-story building, reminiscent of a manor house , is clearly symmetrical. It has a flat hipped roof , a ground floor designed with a rustic structure and window canopies on the upper floor.
function
Branzoll station is served by regional Trenitalia and SAD trains . It can be reached by bus via a SASA line.
