The Buchholz (Nordheide) station is an important passenger station of the city of Buchholz in der Nordheide . It is on the main route from Bremen to Hamburg , where the Heidebahn branch off to Soltau and the freight bypass railway to Maschen .

history

The station was opened on June 1, 1874 as a station on the Bremen – Harburg line. A little later the line to Lüneburg was opened to the east, and Buchholz became a branch station in the form of a wedge station. On September 30, 1901 the line to Soltau was added, in 1902 the line to Bremervörde , both lines flow into the station from the west, with the latter crossing both the Hamburg – Bremen line and the line to Soltau on one bridge each. These bridges also led to the closure of the line to Bremervörde in 1968, because the electrification of the Hamburg – Bremen line would have required a new bridge. The bridge over the Heidebahn is still preserved today (2018), but no longer used. The route to Lüneburg was expanded to Jesteburg in 1977 to form an access to the Maschen marshalling yard , passenger traffic to Lüneburg ended in 1981, the rest of goods traffic beyond Jesteburg in 1994.

Since the timetable change in 2018, erixx GmbH has offered the Heidebahn every two hours to Hamburg-Harburg on weekends.

Rolling stock used

Up until the year 2000, modernized and unmodernized n-cars with an electric locomotive were in use by the DB Regio on the fast regional express connection Hamburg-Altona - Bremen Hbf as well as on the regional train Hamburg-Harburg - Tostedt . The former was converted to air-conditioned double-decker coaches from the manufacturer Bombardier in 2000 , and the n-coaches were able to stay on the regional line until 2007.

Since the timetable change in 2003 and the timetable change in 2007, Metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH from Uelzen has been taking over the services of RE Hamburg - Bremen and RB Hamburg - Tostedt with vehicles from the vehicle pool of the regional transport company . By the end of 2011, operated DB Regio even hourly train station Buchholz with diesel railcars of the series 628.4 on the route Buchholz - Soltau (Han) - Bennemühlen before then the timetable change 2011 Erixx GmbH took over the business here.

The station is currently not served by long- distance passenger rail services. The following lines stop in local rail transport :

Railway systems

The Buchholz (Nordheide) station is a wedge station where the freight bypass line from Maschen meets the important Hamburg - Wanne-Eickel railway line . In addition to the main platform, which is on track 1, and also on track 11 at the southern end, there is also the central platform with tracks 3 and 6 to the west of track 1. This can be reached via two stairways, one at the north and one at the south end of the station .

To the west of track 6 is the overtaking track 7, which is located on a disused central platform. However, this can still be entered via the southern pedestrian crossing.

To the east of platform 11 are the two tracks of the railway line from Maschen and two sidings for the trains on regional line 38 to Soltau .

To the south of the platforms there is still a large apron from the old days, with a large part of the systems already shut down and some of them demolished. The locomotive shed of the old depot is still there, but is deteriorating more and more.

There is also currently a DB Netz AG signal box in the apron .
