The Dagenham Dock Railway Station is a transit station in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham . It is located in the Travelcard Zone 5 on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway and is owned by the National Express Group subsidiary c2c . In 2011 it was frequented by 344,000 people. The station, from an operational point of view only one stop, is double-track and equipped with side platforms .

Currently (summer 2010) only c2c trains run in Dagenham Dock, on the one hand to London Fenchurch Street and on the other hand to Grays . This train relation runs every half hour outside of rush hour, additional trains are in operation during peak hours. Trains to Southend-on-Sea and Shoeburyness run via Upminster , which is on the north branch of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway , while Dagenham Dock is on the south.

history

The station opened in 1854 on the original route of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway .

On February 20, 2010, the station became the terminus of the first leg of East London Transit , a network of express bus routes in east London to connect London Underground and National Rail stations. The line ETL 1 from Illford ends in Dagenham Dock and also goes to Barking station.

future

The partly fallow industrial area around the station is to be converted into residential and office complexes as part of the London Riverside project . The previously low number of users is also expected to increase. A branch line of the Docklands Light Railway is also planned from Gallions Reach along the Thames to the terminus at Dagenham Dock. An extension of the London Overground of the Gospel Oak – Barking route to Dagenham Dock or even Rainham is planned as an option. These trains would then run as far as Clapham Junction .
