The Hanau-Kleinauheim station is a stopping point on the northern branch of the Hessian Odenwaldbahn at km 85.5.

investment

Originally a train station under the name Klein-Auheim , it served the community of the same name , which has been a district of Hanau since 1974 . It was not until 2006 that the facility was renamed Hanau-Klein Auheim . Today's stop is on the last construction section of the single-track Odenwaldbahn, which opened in 1882. It had a siding for train crossings , a freight track and a weighbridge , which was renewed in 1916 and was now designed for a length of 8 m and a weight of 40 t . Since it was built on the outskirts of the center of Klein-Auheim, it was not very attractive for traffic. This has only changed since continuous trains started running to Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof . The former train station has now been dismantled to become a stop with only one edge of the platform on the continuous track. The rest of the station area, including the reception building , has been largely privatized.

Reception building

The station building (Eisenbahnstraße 2d) was built in 1881 as a type building by the Hessian Ludwig Railway in a simple classical style. Today it serves as a residential building . The goods shed built at that time was only about a third of the length of today's goods shed. The ensemble was faced with red sandstone . At the end of the 19th century , the goods hall was expanded by two gates, as was the goods ramp.

The building is classified as a cultural monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act.
