Klein-Auheim is a district of Hanau in the Hessian Main-Kinzig district .
geography
Klein-Auheim lies at an altitude of 104 m above sea level , about 4 km south of the city center of Hanau. It borders the Steinheim district in the north-west, the Großauheim district in the north and east, the Hainburg community in the southeast, the town of Obertshausen (both Offenbach district ) in the south, and the Lämmerspiel district of the city of Mühlheim am Main in the west (Offenbach district).
history
middle Ages
The oldest surviving mention of the place could be a Euuicheim named for 806 . The naming can be found in a copy of a deed of donation from Irminrat and is copied in Codex Eberhardi . The name could be derived from the personal name Ewic . The ending -heim is typical for a town founded in Franconian times. Since the original document is not available, only the copy in a copy , it seems possible that there was a transfer error and the copyist read and transferred an original Ennicheim as Euuicheim . In Ennicheim , the entry would refer to Enkheim . Auheim was in Maingau in Franconia . In 1270, Klein- and Großauheim were first mentioned separately.
In 1255 a church is mentioned in Auheim. Their patronage lay with the apostles Peter and Paul , the church patronage with the Mainz cathedral chapter .
Klein-Auheim was in the office of Steinheim , which initially belonged to the Lords of Eppstein and, from 1371, as a pledge, half each to the Counts of Katzenelnbogen and the Lords of Hanau . In 1393 the pledge came to the Lords of Kronberg . In 1425 Gottfried von Eppstein sold the Steinheim office to the Electorate of Mainz .

Modern times
In the years from 1631 to 1634, during the Thirty Years War , King Gustav II. Adolf confiscated the office of Steinheim - and thus also Klein-Auheim - as spoils of war and endowed the later Hanau counts Heinrich Ludwig von Hanau-Münzenberg (1609–1632) and Jakob Johann von Hanau-Münzenberg (1612–1636), who were allied with him, with it. Since both counts died soon and the Peace of Westphalia changed to the normal year 1624, Klein-Auheim came back to Kurmainz, where it remained until 1803 when it was transferred to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt , which became the Grand Duchy of Hessen in 1806, in the course of secularization . fell. Klein-Auheim was traditionally Roman Catholic as it belonged to the Electorate of Mainz during the Reformation . The local Roman Catholic Church is St. Peter and Paul. The Protestant Church of the Redeemer was only consecrated on April 27, 1958.

It combines the coat of arms of the Electorate of Mainz ( Mainzer Rad ) with that of the Eppstein rulership , to which the place used to belong.
