The Hirschhorn (Neckar) station is the station of the South Hessian town of Hirschhorn (Neckar) , east-northeast of Heidelberg . It is located on the Neckar Valley Railway from Heidelberg to Bad Friedrichshall . The station building is a listed building.
history
The Hirschhorn station was opened together with the Neckargemünd - Neckarsteinach - Eberbach - Neckarelz - Jagstfeld section of the Neckar Valley Railway on May 24, 1879 on the south-western edge of the city.
Reception building
The station building is east of the route. It dates from 1879 and is a three-storey, classical- style solid building with a T-shaped floor plan and a low, single-storey extension. Corner pilaster strips and wide storey friezes, as well as tooth cuts and decorative consoles, structure the plastered facade. There are arched windows on the ground floor and straight lintel windows on the upper floors. The distinctive gable construction in the gables has round gable windows.
Investments
The station has two continuous tracks, each with an outside platform. The S-Bahn lines S1 and S2 run from platform 1 via Eberbach and Neckarelz to Mosbach and Osterburken . From track 2 you can get to Neckargemünd , Heidelberg , Mannheim , Kaiserslautern and Homburg (Saar) .
The former loading and sidings in the west of the station have given way to a parking lot.
traffic
The Hirschhorn (Neckar) station is on the Neckar Valley Railway ( Heidelberg - Bad Friedrichshall ), which has been served every half hour by the S1 and S2 lines of the RheinNeckar S-Bahn since 2003 . The cities of Eberbach , Mosbach , Seckach , Osterburken , Neckargemünd , Heidelberg, Mannheim , Kaiserslautern and Homburg (Saar) can be reached without changing trains from Hirschhorn . In addition, individual S-Bahn trains to and from Germersheim stop in Hirschhorn at the edge of the day. (As of 2019)
