The Lorraine TGV station , named after its catchment area of the former Region Lorraine (German: Lothringen) , located at kilometer 281.3 on the LGV Est , a high-speed line between Paris , eastern France and southern Germany . Along with Champagne-Ardenne TGV and Meuse TGV, it is one of three train stations of the LGV Est européenne. The station is located in the commune of Louvigny and is about 27 km from Metz and 37 km from Nancy . It was inaugurated on May 30, 2007 and has been served by trains since June 10, 2007. The SNCF counted on 600,000 travelers annually, and in 2018 it was used by 583,500 travelers. The location of the train station was controversial. The regional council plans to move the stop to Vandières , but this project is currently not being pursued.
Infrastructure
General
The station has one in wood and glass held reception building , two covered platforms and also covered overpass over the railway tracks. 850 parking spaces are available for travelers in front of the train station .
The construction of the station cost a total of EUR 32 million.
Railway system
Lorraine TGV station has a total of four tracks, only the two outer ones have a platform. The trains can travel at 320 km / h on the two middle tracks . The switches in the main tracks have been hit by high-speed switches , and there is a single track connection between the continuous main tracks at both ends of the station. All tracks are made of conventional ballast superstructure with the UIC 60 rail profile (with a mass of 60 kg per meter).
Transport links
Not all trains using the LGV Est européenne stop at Lorraine TGV. The station is currently (as of February 2015) used by 16 TGV trains per day between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. There are therefore no transfer connections to Strasbourg , Bordeaux , Lille , Rennes and Nantes . Connections to Paris and Germany are currently no longer available.
There are no connections to the existing local public transport network because of the remote location of the station "on the green field". Between Lorraine TGV and railway stations with Metz and Nancy run shuttle buses in hourly rhythm. There are also regular shuttle bus connections to Luxembourg train station .
Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport is around seven kilometers from the train station . However, the number of passengers transferring to the airport fell short of expectations in the first few years after the station was opened.
