The Neumark (Sachs) Station is an operating agency of the Leipzig-Hof railway in Neumark in Saxony Vogtlandkreis . The railway line to Greiz , which has branched off here since 1865 , was closed in 1999.

history

Surname

The station already had three different names during its operation, in detail these were:

  • until June 30, 1911: Neumark
  • until December 21, 1933: Neumark (Sa.)
  • since December 22, 1933: Neumark (Sachs)

Emergence

The Neumark station was opened on May 31, 1846 as a stop together with the Werdau - Reichenbach section of the Leipzig – Hof railway line by the Saxon-Bavarian Railway Company . With the opening of the Neumark – Greiz railway line by the private Greiz-Brunner Railway Company on October 21, 1865, the Neumark station gained greater importance. Since 1872 it was run as a train station. The station was expanded several times up to around 1900 and remained largely unchanged until the 1990s. The station had a reception building, a goods shed, farm buildings, a railway maintenance office, a residential building and two signal boxes. In 1963 the tracks on the Leipzig – Hof railway line were electrified.

Although the line to Greiz was closed in 1999, the station has not completely lost its importance, as Vogtlandbahn GmbH opened its central repair shop here in 2000. The station building was demolished in 2013.
