Railway stations in Bavaria |
The Ochsenfurt station is a through station in the Bavarian city of Ochsenfurt . It is located in kilometer 119.0 of the Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway line ( KBS 920). The train station is served every hour (in the afternoon almost every half hour) by DB Regio trains. The station is also more important for freight traffic, as longer trains can be overtaken in Ochsenfurt. Until 1994 the Gaubahn branched off here to Röttingen / Weikersheim .
history
The station was built as part of the construction of the Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway line and opened on July 1, 1864. It has a reception building , a goods shed and other buildings. The reception building and the goods shed are now under monument protection , see the list of architectural monuments in Ochsenfurt .
After the Gaubahn Ochsenfurt – Röttingen opened in 1907 , operations at the station increased. Several shunting tracks and sidings as well as a loading ramp were built for freight traffic.
In 1965 the station was electrified. The local loading of goods was abandoned.
Passenger traffic on the Gaubahn ceased in 1974 and freight traffic in 1992. By 1994 the tracks were removed and the Südtangente road was created along their route along the station . Today the Gaubahn cycle path runs along the former route outside Ochsenfurt .
Infrastructure
Ochsenfurt train station has three platform tracks. Track 1 on the house platform is only used as planned for track changes and overhauls. To the south is the central platform with tracks 2 and 3. This can be reached via an underpass that is not barrier-free. The RB trains to Würzburg stop at track 2 and the RB trains to Treuchtlingen and Marktbreit stop at track 3 . Track 1 has a platform height of 33 cm, tracks 2 and 3 are 76 cm high.
Lead from the station sidings for local industry, especially the harbor and the sugar factory.
