List of train stations in Italy |
The Salurn train station ( Italian: Stazione di Salorno ) is located on the Brenner Railway in the south of South Tyrol .
location
The station is located on 211 m height in the middle of the valley floor of Salorno between Salurn and already in Trentino lying Roverè della Luna . It is connected to the center of Salurn by a bridge over the Brenner motorway and the Adige .
history
The station was built in 1859 as part of the construction of the section of the Brenner Railway from Verona through the Adige Valley to Bolzano . The work on this was carried out under the senior management of Alois von Negrelli , Ernst Hranatsch was responsible for the buildings of the first train stations built (including in Salurn) . The construction of the train station in Salurn caused technical difficulties: It was built on a former marshland, which is why a heavy gravel dam had to be built up, which exceeded the then highest level of the Adige by about one meter.
In 1919 Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane took over the building and initiated the first renovations in the reception building. Towards the end of the 1990s, roofs were added for the platforms and an underpass was built. In 2003, the forecourt was redesigned, creating P + R stops.
Buildings
The reception building is a massive masonry structure with a passage and waiting hall. In terms of style, the appearance is based on that of Italian villa architecture: The building parts are consistently arranged symmetrically, the entrance area is designed with three portal arches; Other architectural elements include a flat hipped roof , rustic decor on the ground floor and strongly profiled frames for the windows on the upper floor. To the north of the reception building there is a former warehouse, which was realized as a narrow, elongated half-timbered construction.
function
Today's Salurn station is operationally just a stopping point . It is served by regional trains from Trenitalia and SAD , which also operate bus connections to the station.
