Bahnhofstrasse (Radebeul)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bahnhofstrasse is a city road in the Saxon town of Radebeul , in the district Kötzschenbroda . It represents the connection between the historic village center of Kötzschenbroda ( Altkötzschenbroda ) and the most important longitudinal axis of Radebeul, the Meißner Straße . The Bahnhofstraße as a cross street to Meißner Straße represents the shopping and thus the main street of Radebeul-West according to the Radebeul center concept , as defined for the main street in Radebeul-East .

Location and development

Moritzburger Strasse from the north, in the upper part the intersection of Meißner Strasse and Bahnhofstrasse with a railway underpass

Shortly before the intersection of the street running from south to north, the eponymous train station of the Kötzschenbroda district is on the left , today a stop on the S 1 line of the Dresden S-Bahn . Straight ahead, through the underpass of the railway bridge, the medieval cattle path into Kötzschenbroda Oberort , located above the Elbe valley , is now extended by Moritzburger Straße , which is part of the Saxon district road 8018.

This station near intersection with Meissner road was from 1899 terminus of the former Regional tramway Lößnitz railway , now the line 4 of the Dresden tram is that from 1920 goes up to Naundorf on the Meissner road and then on a separate track body to the northwest after Zitzschewig direction Weinböhla turns .

The house addresses are numbered as horseshoe numbering : it begins on the Anger von Altkötzschenbroda on the west side of the street, i.e. H. From there, numbers 1 to 11 run on the left side of the street on Meißner Straße. From this number 12 run on the right side to the undeveloped 24 back to the Anger.

Many of the buildings on Bahnhofstrasse are now listed and are therefore listed in the list of cultural monuments in Radebeul-Kötzschenbroda , some with addresses from cross streets:

In contrast to the Anger Altkötzschenbroda with its mostly rural development with courtyards, these buildings already represent suburban development with two-storey Wilhelminian-style houses that are still separated from the train station, which represent a three-story closed development .

Naming

In 1547 the path on which the cattle were driven into the Oberland in the Middle Ages and early modern times and which today represents the Bahnhofstrasse in the lower part was mentioned in a document as Vyheweg . In 1860 the name Eisenbahnstraße was dedicated , at that time the street was still at ground level over the tracks of the Leipzig – Dresden railway line at Kötzschenbroda station, which opened in 1840. With the construction of today's station reception building in 1897, the name was changed to Bahnhofstrasse .

After the Second World War, in 1945, the route was given the name Road of Liberation . In 1991 the administration returned to its previous name, Bahnhofstrasse .
