history

The building is located south of the reception building of the Worms main train station at Bahnhofsstraße 3–5 and was built at the same time as the reception building in the years 1901 to 1903. It was used by the railway mail to reload mail to and from the railroad . During the Second World War it suffered considerable damage, especially in the upper floors, during air raids and was then only rebuilt in simplified forms.

building

The building was built in the neo-Romanesque style - in line with the style of the neighboring reception building - and has decorative decorations of the Jugendstil and Heimatstil . The windows on the ground floor have round arches , between the windows there are some ornamental stones. The building consists of two parts: a southern, four-story main building (including a loft) with an ornate bay window and a northern two-story porch. The entrance area of the building is designed as a loggia . Some of its entrance doors are still the original doors from the time it was built.
