The Benevento – Campobasso railway connects the Italian provincial capitals of Benevento in Campania and Campobasso in the Molise region and is only of regional importance for Italian rail traffic.

The line is single-track and not electrified. It was opened to traffic in sections between 1881 and 1883. Of the 84 km, 57 km of the route is in the province of Benevento and the remaining 27 km in the territory of the province of Campobasso . Due to the topographical conditions, it has many curves, but in comparison it is still quite competitive with road traffic. Along the railway line are the tourist places of Morcone , Sepino and especially Pietrelcina , the birthplace of Padre Pio .
The number of passengers is very low and the connections between the stations Benevento and Campobasso are limited to a few train pairs per day. In the past there were also direct connections from Naples to the pilgrimage town of Pietrelcina . While this experiment was a success, for some inexplicable reason it was not repeated. The main crossroads with other railway lines are in Benevento and Campobasso. From the Bosco Redole station, which has been closed for passenger traffic , a branch leads to Isernia. A journey by train took about 1:50 hours in 2010.

Passenger traffic was discontinued in 2013. After renovation and electrification, passenger traffic is to be resumed between Benevento and Pietrelcina.
