The Brașov – Întorsura Buzăului line is a branch line in Romania . It leads in southeastern Transylvania from the east of Burzenland from Brașov (Kronstadt) to Întorsura Buzăului . Braşov the single-track railroad line in runs circuit Braşov in northeastern direction Hărman (honey Berg) and southeast here by Budila (Bodeln) and Teliu (cross Burg) , partly along the stream Teliu in Intorsura Range - a part of the mountains in the Munţii Buzăului in the Eastern Carpathians -, to the small town of Întorsura Buzăului (Bodsau) in the Covasna district .

history

The railway line planned in 1907, called "Drum de fier" (iron way) , was originally intended to connect Transylvania with Great Wallachia (Muntenia) . In a construction period of around 30 years, three tunnels were necessary to build the railway line. The longest rail tunnel is located in the area of the municipality of Teliu (Kreuzburg) and is the longest rail tunnel in Romania. According to various sources, it is 4,369.5 meters or 4,379 meters long. Originally planned for a double-track railway line, it was completed by Julius Berger Tiefbau AG-Berlin at the end of 1928 . The tunnel was opened to rail traffic in June 1931, but only opened three years later.

Due to financial difficulties, the railway line between Întorsura Buzăului and Nehoiașu - a cadastral municipality of the city of Nehoiu - could never be completed (approx. 34 km as the crow flies), so that the originally planned "Iron Path" was never finished and only today on the railway line Brașov to Întorsura Buzăului Passenger trains run.

The railway line is operated by the private railway company Regiotrans (2016).
