The Canicattì – Margonia (–Naro) line was a single-track, narrow - gauge railway in Sicily . The route led from Canicattì over 12.5 km to Margonia on the route Agrigento Naro-Licata. The line was opened on February 28, 1911 and closed on September 28, 1958.

history

The route was primarily designed to connect the sulfur pits in the region to the rail network. At the time of the opening on February 28, 1911, the peak of sulfur production had already passed, so that its real raison d'etre was no longer valid from the start. Operations on the line ceased on September 28, 1958.

business

The line was operated by the FS . The entire operation was carried out with steam locomotives, which, however, only allowed a maximum speed of 30 km / h.
