The Palermo – San Carlo railway was a single-track, narrow - gauge line in north-western Sicily . The 105 km long route led from Palermo via Corleone to San Carlo . The line was opened between 1886 and 1903 and closed between 1954 and 1959.

history

The line from Palermo to San Carlo was the first narrow-gauge line in Sicily. The section from Palermo to Villafrati was opened on August 16, 1886. Corleone was reached on December 20, 1886. The entire line to San Carlo was put into operation on May 21, 1903. On September 1, 1954, rail traffic between Palermo and Corleone was discontinued. Since February 1, 1959, trains have stopped running between Corleone and San Carlo.

The route was initially operated by the Società Anonima per le Ferrovie Siciliane (SAFS), later by the FS . The entire operation was initially carried out with steam locomotives, from 1949 diesel multiple units of the type RALn 60 were used for passenger transport.
