history

The line from Jablonowo via Freystadt to Riesenburg was opened on October 1, 1899 by the Prussian State Railways ( Directorate Danzig ), the branch line from Freystadt to Marienwerder followed on January 15, 1900. After the loss of the First World War , the German Reich had to go through the Versailles in 1920 Treaty to cede the so-called Polish Corridor to the re-established Poland , so that the new Polish-German border now lay between Sawdin and Freystadt. This interrupted the line, even after the German Reich occupied Poland in 1939 and the entire line belonged to the Deutsche Reichsbahn ( Danzig Directorate ), it was not put back into operation. This only happened in 1946, when the line was now completely owned by the Polish State Railways . The line has been closed since 1992.
