The Lužná u Rakovníka – Rakovník railway is a single-track main line (“celostátní dráha”) in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the Buschtěhrad Railway Company (BEB). The short connecting tram branches off the Prague – Chomutov railway line in Lužná u Rakovníka and leads to Rakovník .
history
On June 3, 1868, the Buschtěhrad Railway Company received a law permit to build a railway from Prague via Saaz and Komotau to the royal Saxon border to connect to the Chemnitz-Annaberger Railway and with a winged railway into the Rakonitz coal district, then from Priesen via Karlsbad to Eger and Franzensbad . On February 4, 1871, the continuous rail line from Prague to Chomutov was completed. At the same time, operations began on the branch line from Luschna-Lischan to Rakonitz.
A little later, the line was extended by 2.55 km to the current station in Rakovník. On March 5, 1873, the expansion for freight traffic was opened, passenger train traffic took place from May 1, 1873.
After the nationalization of the BEB, the line was transferred to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD on January 1, 1923 .
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia .
Today the route is served by both passenger and express trains on the route Praha – Lužná u Rakovníka – Rakovník. Further trains run in connection with the trains on the Praha – Chomutov line. The 2008 timetable lists a total of 14 pairs of passenger trains between Lužná u Rakovníka and Rakovník every weekday.
