The Rakovník – Louny railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the Rakonitz – Laun railway. It runs in Central Bohemia from Rakovník to Louny .
history
The route was opened on September 24, 1904.
After the nationalization of the Rakonitz – Laun railway, the line came into the ownership of the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD on January 1, 1922 .
After the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany in the autumn of 1938, part of the route was on German territory. Since there was no direct connection to other German routes, the entire route remained in operation of the now Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). Kaunowa and Horosedl were designated as border stations. In the realm course book the track was included as KBS 167g Laun-Rakonitz. After the Second World War , the entire line came back to the ČSD.
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia .
The 2008 timetable recorded a total of eleven pairs of passenger trains Monday to Friday between Rakovník and Louny, including the pair of express trains R 892/893 “Bezdrev” on the České Budějovice –Most route.
In the 2018 timetable, the route is served by passenger trains every Monday to Friday with individual repeater trains at approximately two-hour intervals. Most of the trains will be tied through to Most , but the pair of express trains has been discontinued.
