The Luino – Milan line is a rail link between the cities of Luino and Milan in northern Italy .

The line, built in standard gauge, is electrified, so that electric locomotives and multiple units can also be used. The line is owned by RFI, a 100% subsidiary of the Italian state railway Ferrovie dello Stato (FS).

history

The route was created by combining several sections that were opened as follows:

  • October 18, 1858: Rho – Milan
  • December 20, 1860: Gallarate – Rho
  • December 4, 1882: Luino – Laveno
  • March 17, 1884: Laveno – Gallarate
