The Gallarate – Varese railway is a railway line in Lombardy . It connects the city of Varese with Gallarate and through the railway line Rho – Gallarate – Arona with the city of Milan .

The line was built at the request of the city of Varese to connect the city to the Lombard railway network. It was opened on September 26, 1865. In 1901 the line was electrified with a conductor rail as part of the " Ferrovie Varesine ".

Today the suburban trains of the S5 line of the Milan S-Bahn run on the route as well as the regional trains Milan – Varese without intermediate stops.
