The Opole – Namysłów (Opole – Namslau) railway is a partially disused railway line in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Course and condition

Jełowa Railway Station (2006)

The line begins at Opole Główne station (Opole [Hbf]; km 0.057) on the Bytom – Wrocław railway line and initially runs parallel to the Tarnowskie Góry – Opole railway line eastwards, crosses under the Opole – Wrocław railway line and runs off the line to Tarnowskie Góry away, northwards to the Jełowa stop and junction (Jellowa / Ilnau; km 19.747), the former train station, where the section that is still in operation merges into the Jełowa – Kluczbork railway line . Since 2017, the following section to Murów (Murow / Hermannsthal (Oberschles); km 30.240) has been passable again, followed by the impassable section to Namysłów (Namslau; km 59.939) on the Kalety – Wrocław railway line .

The line is single-track, not electrified and can be used by passenger trains from Opole Główne station to 2.483 km at one hundred kilometers per hour, to 17,000 km at sixty, to Jełowa at forty, to Murów at twenty. Freight trains are only allowed to use the route on the Opole Główne – Jełowa section up to km 6.500 (at forty), from Jełowa to Murów they are allowed to run at twenty kilometers per hour.

Between Opole and Kluczbork, and therefore also on the branching railway line Jełowa – Kluczbork , there is no longer any possibility of crossing, since all operating points are only stops (Jełowa stop and branch).

history

The line was opened on August 1, 1889 as the Prussian state railway. After the end of the Second World War , it came to the Polish State Railways , which ceased passenger traffic between Jełowa and Namysłów in 1992 and between Opole, Jełowa and Kluczbork on May 28, 2000. The latter was resumed on December 11, 2005.
