The Kalety – Wrocław (Stahlhammer – Breslau) railway is a continuous double-track and electrified railway line in the Polish Voivodeships of Silesia , Opole and Lower Silesia .

course

The line begins at Kalety (Stahlhammer) station on the Chorzów – Tczew railway line , the former coal main line , and runs northwest across the Lubliniec long-distance train station (Lublinitz / Loben; km 19.258), where the Kielce – Fosowskie railway crosses and the Pyskowice– railway line. Lubliniec ends, and the long-distance train station Olesno Śląskie (Rosenberg (Oberschles); km 50.137), the beginning of the former Rosenberg circular railway , to the long-distance train station Kluczbork (Kreuzburg (Oberschles); km 70.122), in which the disused railway line Kędzierzyn-Koźle-Kluczbork and the The Jełowa – Kluczbork line ends and the Kluczbork – Poznań line begins. Now follows the section without traffic of the long-distance transport company PKP Intercity via Namysłów (Namslau; km 106.645), the end point of the disused railway line Opole – Namysłów and the also former railway line Namysłów – Kępno , and Oleśnica (Oels; km 133.690), the end point of the railway line Herby –Oleśnica and the beginning of the Oleśnica – Chojnice railway , to the Łukanów junction (km 137.017), where a connecting curve from this line meets. Now part of the long-distance route Warsaw - Breslau , the route runs westwards via Wrocław Psie Pole (Hundsfeld / Breslau-Hundsfeld; km 153.472), the beginning of the railway line Wrocław-Trzebnica , Wrocław Sołtysowice (Schottwitz / Breslau-Burgweide; km 156.609) at the goods railway line Jelcz Miłoszyce and the long-distance train station Wrocław Nadodrze (Breslau Odertor; km 160.356), in the vicinity of which the Wroclaw-Trebnitz-Prausnitzer small railway once started, to Wrocław Mikołajów (Wroclaw Nikolaitor; km 163.640) on the Wrocław – Poznań railway line .

State of development

The line is double-tracked throughout and electrified with three kilovolt DC voltage.

For passenger trains, the maximum speed up to kilometer point 68.100 at Kluczbork is one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour, then up to kilometer point 70.600 hundred, up to kilometer point 117.780 depending on the platform fifty and seventy, up to kilometer point 132.700 fifty and seventy, up to kilometer point 133.580 fifty and eighty , up to kilometer point 134.700 eighty, up to kilometer point 159.700 one hundred to one hundred and ten, on the rest to Wrocław Mikołajów less. Freight trains are allowed to travel up to the kilometer point 70.600 one hundred kilometers per hour, up to the kilometer point 117.780 depending on the track forty and fifty, up to the kilometer point 132.700 generally fifty, up to the kilometer point 136.200 fifty and sixty, up to the kilometer point 159.700 generally sixty, then fifty and sixty.

From Kluczbork, the route is to be expanded to a maximum speed of one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour.

history

The rights Or Shore Railway opened on May 28, 1868 the first section of the main track, Wroclaw - Oels . The continuation to Kreuzburg was opened on November 15th of the same year. A few years later, on July 1, 1883, the continuation to Rosenberg was opened. The section to Lublinitz followed on May 20, 1884 , the last section was opened on November 15 of that year. In the following years the railway was nationalized and double-tracked.

Steel hammer was of little importance; nor was it a branch station, as the coal main line , today's Chorzów – Tczew railway line in the north, had not yet been built. So all trains went beyond Stahlhammer at least to Tarnowitz .

The 1914 summer timetable provided for seven continuous pairs of trains, including a pair of express trains that only stopped at Breslau Hbf, Breslau-Odertor, Oels, Namslau , Kreuzburg, Rosenberg and Lublinitz. He also planned trains from Breslau, which branched off in Oels on the Oels – Konitz railway line. Otherwise a few local trains were planned on different sections.

After the First World War , the route lost its importance as the German-Polish border ran between Lublinitz and Cziasnau . The line has been completely Polish since the end of the Second World War and has been completely electrified since September 11, 1972. The second track, which was partially dismantled after the Second World War, is also continuously available again.

In long-distance traffic, the line is still operated between Stahlhammer (where the trains do not stop, however) and Kreuzburg and between the branch behind Oels and Breslau .
