Stare Olesno (German Alt-Rosenberg ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the urban and rural community of Olesno (Rosenberg OS) in the powiat Oleski in the Opole Voivodeship (Opole) .

The street village of Stare Olesno is located in the northeastern part of Upper Silesia in the Rosenberger Land. The village of Stare Olesno is located about five kilometers northwest of the district town of Olesno and about 52 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The place is in the Wyżyna Woźnicko-Wieluńska (Woischnik-Wieluń highlands) within the Obniżenie Liswarty (Lisswarther valley) . Stare Olesno lies on the stober . The state road Droga krajowa 11 runs through the village . The Lubliniec – Kluczbork railway runs north of the village .

The name Rosenberg villa is proven for the year 1372 , for the year 1439 the name Rosenberg antiqua, later Alt-Rosenberg, Alt Rosenberg or Altrosenberg was used.

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Alt-Rosenberg and most of Silesia fell to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community Alt-Rosenberg belonged to the district of Rosenberg OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a Catholic church, a farm, a Catholic school, a brewery, a distillery and 40 houses in the village. In the same year, 320 people lived in Alt-Rosenberg, 60 of them Protestants and six Jewish. In 1855 the village numbered 307 people. In 1865 Alt-Rosenberg had 16 gardeners. In 1874 the Albrechtshof district was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Albrechtsdorf, Alt Rosenberg and Lowoschau and the manor districts of Albrechtsdorf, Alt Rosenberg, Lowoschau and Walzen. In 1885 Alt-Rosenberg had 195 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 53 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 62 for membership in Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Alt-Rosenberg remained with the German Empire . In 1925 Alt-Rosenberg had 523, in 1933 again 577 inhabitants. On April 1st, Albrechtshof was incorporated into Alt-Rosenberg. The rural community Alt-Rosenberg had 1854 inhabitants in 1939. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Rosenberg OS

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Broniec . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1975 to the Czestochowa Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Oleski and again to the Opole Voivodeship.

Attractions

  • The Roman Catholic Church of St. Maria Magdalena is a scrap wood church . The timber structure was built in 1680. Until 1910 the church was owned by the Augustinian canons in Rosenberg. The hall church has a rectangular choir, a tower on the west side with a protruding bell chamber. The outer wall and the roof are shingled. Inside there is a painting of Our Lady from the 17th century and a station of the cross from the 19th century. Today the church belongs to the Catholic parish of St. Michael in Olesno . The church building has been a listed building since 1954.
  • The Schloss Alt-Rosenberg was built in 1904 by Mortimer von Lieres and Wilkau.
