Kucoby (1945–2005 Kuczoby , German Kutzoben ) is a town in Upper Silesia . It is located in the Gmina Olesno (Rosenberg OS) in the powiat Oleski in the Opole Voivodeship (Opole) .

Kucoby is located in the northeastern part of Upper Silesia in the Rosenberger Land. The village of Kucoby is located about 15 kilometers southeast of the district town of Olesno and about 63 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole . To the east of the village lies the border with the Silesian Voivodeship .

The place is in the Wyżyna Woźnicko-Wieluńska (Woischnik-Wieluńer Hochland) within the Próg Herbski (Herbyer Schwelle) . There are extensive forest areas to the south and north of the village. Kucoby is on the Lisswarthe .

The place name means something like hut forest .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Kutzoben and most of Silesia fell to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Kutzoben belonged to the district of Rosenberg OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a count's tall oven and 34 houses in the village. In the same year, 273 people lived in Kutzoben, 16 of them Protestant and two Jewish. In 1865 the village had 17 farmers, 15 cottages and 18 residents. In 1874 the administrative district Bodzanowitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Bodzanowitz, Kutzoben, Neu Karmunkau, Ulrikendorf Kolonie and Wichrau and the manor districts Bodzanowitz, Neu Karmunkau and Wichrau. In 1885 Kutzoben had 214 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 89 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 74 for membership in Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Kutzoben remained with the German Empire . On September 30, 1928, Kutzoben was incorporated into Botzanowitz. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Rosenberg OS

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Kuczoby . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Oleski . In 2005 the place name was changed from Kuczoby to Kucoby .
