Leśna (German Leschna , 1936–1945 Mühlendorf OS ) is a village in Upper Silesia . It is located in the Gmina Olesno (Rosenberg OS) in the powiat Oleski of the Opole Voivodeship (Opole) .

Geographical location

Leśna is located in the northeastern part of Upper Silesia in the Rosenberger Land. The village of Leśna is about seven kilometers southwest of the district town of Olesno and about 48 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The place is in the Wyżyna Woźnicko-Wieluńska (Woischnik-Wieluń highlands) within the Obniżenie Liswarty (Lisswarther valley) . Leśna is surrounded by extensive forest areas. The place is on the Budkowiczanka (Budkowitzer Bach) .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1416 as Altum Leschna . The place name is derived from the Slavic term las (dt. Forest ) and means something like forest .

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Leschna and most of Silesia fell to Prussia .

After the reorganization of the province of Silesia , the rural community of Leschna belonged to the district of Rosenberg OS in the administrative district of Opole from 1816 . In 1845 there was a Vorwerk, a fresh fire and 37 houses in the village. In the same year, 296 people lived in Leschna, all of them Catholic. In 1855 there were 302 people in Leschna. In 1874 the district of Zembowitz was founded, which consisted of the rural communities Frei Kadlub, Frei Pipa, Kneja, Leschna, Oschietzko, Pazolkau, Pruskau, Thurzy, Wachow and Zembowitz and the estate districts of Kneja, Leschna, Pazolkau, Pruskau, Thurzy, Wachow and. The first head of office was the manor owner and Major Count Gessler. In 1885 Leschna had 332 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 48 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 192 for membership of Poland. After the division of Upper Silesia, Leschna remained with the German Empire . In 1925 there were 433 people, in 1933 there were again 478 people. On April 27, 1936, the place was renamed in the course of a wave of renaming of the Nazi era in Mühlendorf OS . 1939 had 1157 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Rosenberg OS

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed Leśna in Poland on March 15, 1947 . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1975 to the Czestochowa Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Oleski and again to the Opole Voivodeship.
