Location and dates
Wachow is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Nauen on state road 91 between Nauen and Brandenburg an der Havel . The place has an area of 27.25 km² and with 917 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2002) a population density of 34 inhabitants / km².

history
The district of Gohlitz is one of the oldest settlements in the Havelland; it was mentioned as Goliz in a document from the Brandenburg bishop Siegfried as early as 1173. The village of Wachow (Wachowe) itself was first mentioned in 1179 in a document from the Brandenburg Cathedral Archives .
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Gohlitz was incorporated.
In the course of the municipal reform in Brandenburg, Wachow became a district of Nauen on October 26, 2003.

The honorary mayor and member of the city council of Nauen is Uwe Bublitz (LWN). (Status: local election on September 28, 2008)
coat of arms
The place received its own coat of arms in 1996. The three canopy symbolize Wachow, Gohlitz and Niebede. The flowers are a symbol for the heather around Gohlitz, the cross for the Wachow church and the horse for Niebede.
The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Frank Diemar .
Culture and sights
- The village church Niebede is a small plastered hall church from the beginning of the 18th century. The church facilities is partly older date and may be from an earlier building.
- The village church of Wachow is essentially a late Gothic hall church, which was supplemented by a steeple between 1820 and 1822 . Inside there is a pulpit altar , which was built around 1730.
