Tremmen is a district of the city of Ketzin / Havel in the Brandenburg district of Havelland with around 800 inhabitants .

geography

Tremmen is about six kilometers north of Ketzin in the southern area of ​​the Nauener Platte at an altitude of 32  m above sea level. NN and on the road from Wustermark to Brandenburg an der Havel . The area is mainly used for agriculture and is free of forests. The highest point is the Thyrowberg with a height of 57 meters. To the south-east lies the Ketziner Bruchlandschaft , a 1864 hectare nature reserve, created around 150 years ago through the mining of clay for brick production. Here you can observe pond turtles, kingfisher, swan flower and other rare animal and plant species.

history

As proof of settlement, a settlement from the 4th and 3rd millennium was found on the Thyrowberg near Tremmen. v. And a settlement site from the Bronze Age (2200 - 500 BC) found as well as a burial site of a late Slavic settlement. Tremmen itself probably has no Slavic pre-settlement.

Tremmen was first mentioned in a document as Tremene in 1161, from then until 1872 it was under the cathedral chapter of Brandenburg and during this time it developed into a very rich, large farming village. Sources on the history of the place can mainly be found in the Brandenburg Cathedral Abbey Archives. The history of the farms and families from 1520 to 1945 is fully documented. Until the middle of the 19th century the Heerstraße ran through Tremmen as the most important traffic route in the region from Magdeburg via Brandenburg to Spandau, which became the official Prussian Post Road from around 1800. From 1901 to 1966 Tremmen was a station on the Brandenburg, Krakauer Tor - Röthehof railway with a connection to Nauen.

Attractions

War memorial

The Protestant St. Mary's Church , a single-nave, cross-shaped arched brick building , was built in the 15th century in the late Gothic style as a pilgrimage church. The two towers were raised in the baroque style in 1724 and provided with onion domes. At the west gable of the church there is an outside pulpit, from which the blessings were given to pilgrims and believers passing by .

The war memorial from 1921 stands in front of the church. In the church garden, a war cemetery commemorates the battles for Berlin on May 4, 1945.

In the historic center of the village there is a village museum in a former wheelwright shop.

Six objects in the village are on the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg: In addition to the church, four farmhouses and the all-mile obelisk on the old Heerstraße (post milestone).

On the Thyrowberg there is a hiking base with information boards about this place steeped in history.
