location

Zachow is located in the southern Havelland , about 6 kilometers west of Ketzin and 17 kilometers as the crow flies northeast of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . Surrounding villages are the districts of Wachow and Niebede of the city of Nauen in the north. Zachow is on the state road 92 to Ketzin. To the south of the village lies the Trebelsee , through which the Havel flows at this point . Zachow and the community part Gutenpaaren have grown together structurally today. The place lies on the edge of a post-glacial hilly landscape with the 79 meter high Bald Mountain in the north.

history

Zachow was mentioned for the first time in 1170. It is one of the oldest settlements in Havelland, which were founded under German law and immediately after Brandenburg Castle was taken over in 1157. During the territorial reform carried out in the GDR in July 1952, the community of Zachow with the district of Gutenpaaren was assigned to the Nauen district in the Potsdam district . After the reunification , the Nauen district was renamed the Nauen district and finally dissolved. During the district reform in December 1993 , Zachow was assigned to the new Havelland district . On October 26, 2003, the community was incorporated into Ketzin .

Fernewerder residence

A present-day living space in the Zachow district is called Fernewerder. The former village of Werdere is said to have been located northeast of Zachow in a meadow . The village of Werdere was mentioned until 1216 and then it was desolate . In the Brandenburg cathedral chapter of 1656 a field name Der Zachowsche Fernewerder is described.
