Klein Behnitz is a district of the city of Nauen in the Havelland district in Brandenburg . Until October 26, 2003, Klein Behnitz was an independent municipality that belonged to the then Nauen-Land office .

Klein Behnitz in the Beetzseerinne on Klein Behnitzer See in Osthavelland , about 12 kilometers west-southwest of Nauen. The Klinkgraben Behnitz , which connects the Klein Behnitzer See with the Groß Behnitzer See , flows through the village . To the north of Klein Behnitz, the Ribbecker Heide joins. The district of the village borders Ribbeck in the north, Groß Behnitz in the east, Riewend in the south, Barnewitz in the south-west, Buschow in the west and Möthlow in the north-west .

Klein Behnitz is on the county road 6308. The state road 91 is about five kilometers in the direction of Nauen and about six kilometers in the direction of Brandenburg an der Havel . The Berlin – Lehrte railway line is partly within the Klein Behnitz district.

history

The first mention of a settlement in today's area of ​​Klein Behnitz was in 1173 with the Klinkmühle . In 1335 a settlement with the name parva Bentz was first mentioned in a document. The place name, which comes from the Slavic languages, means something like "settlement on a lake with bays" and refers to the location on Klein Behnitzer See. In 1375 Klein Behnitz was referred to as a village in the Landbuch of the Mark Brandenburg . At first the place was under the rule of the noble von Rochow family , later the manor was taken over by the lords of Bardeleben .

Until July 25, 1952, the municipality of Klein Behnitz belonged to the Osthavelland district , which until 1946 belonged to the Prussian province of Brandenburg and then to the state of Brandenburg in the Soviet occupation zone and later the GDR . Since 1952 Klein Behnitz belonged to the Nauen district (GDR district Potsdam ). After reunification, Klein Behnitz first belonged to the Nauen district and, since December 6, 1993, to the Havelland district . On October 26, 2003, Klein Behnitz was incorporated into the city of Nauen as part of the municipality reform in Brandenburg .
