Rudolf Wilhelm Kotzde-Kottenrodt (actually: Wilhelm Kotzde ; born March 1, 1878 in Gohlitz / Havelland ; † September 4, 1948 in Ebnet / Breisgau ) was a German teacher , writer and publicist .
Life
After the village school in Gohlitz, Kotzde attended the secondary school in Nauen from 1886 to 1893 . He then moved to the preparatory institute in Berlin and, from 1896, to the local seminar for city school teachers. At Easter 1899 he joined the Berlin community service as a teacher, which he gave up in 1907 for health reasons. From 1909 Kotzde was a freelance writer and publicist and settled in Rathenow . As early as 1908 he published the “Mainzer Volks- und Jugendbücher” and from 1909 the “Deutsche Jugendbuch” founded by him.
After Kotzde had moved to World War I in 1914 , he was wounded and ill in Flanders. In 1915 he came back to Rathenow and completed his novel “Frau Harke” there, which he had started in 1914 before the outbreak of war.
In 1918 he moved to the Black Forest , where he became a member of the German Association . He became the founder of the ethnic youth organization Adler und Falken and after the First World War leader of the Artamans . In May 1920 he got to know Adolf Hitler at an event organized by the German-Völkischer Association in Munich. Since 1921, all of Wilhelm Kotzde's writings have been listed as valuable literature in the Völkischer Beobachter . In 1929 he became the patron of the German falconry .
In 1932 Kotzde changed its name to Kottenrodt and appeared under the double name Kotzde-Kottenrodt . In 1933 he joined the NSDAP and became an honorary member of the NS teachers' association . In 1934 he held a position as a consultant for German nationality in a ministry, and in 1939 he became an employee at the Institute for Research and Elimination of Jewish Influence on German Church Life .
In 1927 the folklorist Robert Mielke (1863-1935) founded the Wilhelm-Kotzde-Congregation (later Wilhelm-Kotzde-Kottenrodt-Congregation ) in order to promote the literary work and his ethnic ideology. In 1951 the former falconry head Karl Dietrich (1899–1983) was re-established. In addition to Kotzde-Kottenrodt's writings, right-wing extremist or ethnic authors such as Hans Venatier , Hans Heyck , Heinrich Zillich and Theodor Seidenfaden were also published .
His writings Deutsche Führer und Meister , Zwischen Lötz, Lanke und Luch and Die liebe Frau von der Geduld were put on the list of literature to be sorted out in the Soviet occupation zone after the end of the Second World War . Kotzde-Kottenrodt was the father of the sculptor Ulrich Kottenrodt (1906–1984) and Wilhelm Kottenrodt (1904–1981), who headed a sculpture school in Aschaffenburg .
