The Kędzierzyn-Koźle – Kluczbork (Kandrzin-Cosel – Kreuzburg OS) railway is a former railway line in the Opole Voivodeship .

Course and condition

The line began on the one hand at the Kłodnica junction (km 2.626) on the Kędzierzyn-Koźle-Opole railway line , on the other hand there was also a direct track from the Kędzierzyn-Koźle station (Kandrzin / Heydebreck), it ran north to the Leśnica station (Leschnitz-St. Annaberg) / Bergstadt; km 9.570), then east and north again to Strzelce Opolskie station (Groß Strehlitz; km 30.078) on the Bytom – Wrocław railway line and on to Fosowskie station (Vossowska / Vosswalde) on the Tarnowskie Góry – Opole railway line , next to the end of the Kielce – Fosowskie railway line and the former Guttentag – Vosswalde small railway . The terminus was Kluczbork (Kreuzburg (Oberschles.); Km 89.006) on the Kalety – Wrocław railway , as well as the beginning of the Kluczbork – Poznań railway and the end of the Jełowa – Kluczbork railway . There was also a Kluczbork bypass for the first two stretches.

The line was single-track between Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Fosowskie, two-track from Fosowskie to Kluczbork and electrified with three kilovolt DC voltage from Strzelce Opolskie to Kluczbork. Except for a few station areas, the route is impassable.

history

On November 15, 1868, the Vossowska - Kreuzburg (Upper Silesia) line was opened by the Rechts-Oder-Ufer-Eisenbahn , the continuation to the south to Groß Strehlitz was opened by the Prussian State Railways on November 15, 1912 , in the meantime the ROUE had been nationalized . In 1914 the timetable provided for five pairs of trains from Vossowska to Kreuzburg and three from Groß Strehlitz to Vossowska, as well as a single train from Groß Strehlitz to Vossowska that only ran on individual days of the week. From the southernmost section, the Leschnitz-St. Annaberg - Heydebreck OS opened by the Deutsche Reichsbahn , on June 11, 1936 the gap between Groß Strehlitz-Leschnitz-St.Annaberg was closed.

After the Second World War and the annexation of Silesia to Poland, the line came to the Polish State Railways , of which the Fosowskie - Kluczbork section was expanded to two tracks and electrified until the end of December 1983, the southern continuation to Strzelce Opolskie was electrified until July 11, 1984. At about the same time, a Kluczbork bypass was opened.

Passenger traffic between Kędzierzyn and Fosowskie ceased on June 23, 2000, and between Fosowskie and Kluczbork on December 12, 2004, and the line was closed.
