Groß Stanisch ( Polish Staniszcze Wielkie; 1936–45 Groß Zeidel ) is a village in the powiat Strzelecki of the Opole Voivodeship . The place belongs to the urban and rural municipality Colonnowska and was the seat of this municipality from 1945 to 1950.
history
The village was first mentioned around 1300.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia in 1921, 167 people voted for Germany and 400 for Poland. In the manor district of Groß Stanisch 32 people voted for Germany and 100 for Poland. Groß Stanisch remained in the Weimar Republic after 1922 . In 1933 there were 1276 inhabitants in Groß Stanisch.
On July 3, 1936, the place was renamed Groß Zeidel. In 1939 there were 1,355 inhabitants in Groß Zeidel.
In 1945 the place came under Polish administration and was renamed Staniszcze Wielkie. The place seat of the rural community Staniszcze Wielkie (1945–1950) . In 1950 the place became part of the Opole Voivodeship and the seat of the municipality was relocated to today's town of Colonnowska. In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki. In 2006 Groß Stanisch had 1169 inhabitants. In November 2008 the place received the additional official German place name Groß Stanisch .
