Kuniów ( German Kuhnau ) is a place of Gmina Kluczbork in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
Kuniów is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. Kuniów is located around three kilometers south of the Kluczbork municipality and around 43 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole.
The state road Droga krajowa 45 runs through the village . The Kluczbork bypass begins to the west of the village. The Kędzierzyn-Koźle – Kluczbork railway also runs to the west .
Neighboring places of Kuniów are in the north the municipality seat Kluczbork ( Kreuzburg OS ), in the east Kotschanowitz (Polish : Chocianowice ), in the south Jaschine ( Jasienie ) and in the southwest Bażany (German Basan ).
history
The village of Kuhnau is listed for the first time in a document dated February 5, 1253 as Honowo in a listing of the goods of the Cross in Breslau.
In 1799 construction work began on the village church, which was completed in 1801. As a result of secularization , the Kreuzherren lose possession of Kuhnau. In 1861 there were 829 people in Kuhnau. In 1874 the Kuhnau district was founded.
In 1924 a small settlement was established in Kuhnau. In 1933 there were 1,304 people in Kuhnau. In 1936 the youth home in the village was inaugurated. In 1939, 1256 people lived in Kuhnau. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district
As a result of the Second World War, in 1945 Kuhnau, like most of Silesia, fell under Polish administration. The place was subsequently renamed Kuniów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).
Attractions
- The Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist (Polish Kościół Narodzenia św. Jana Chrzciciela ) was built between 1799 and 1801. A parish church was previously mentioned in the same place in 1301. This wooden church was 15 x 7.5 meters and had a wooden bell tower. In 1799 the wooden church was demolished. In 1818 a choir was added to the stone church. In 1932 the church was expanded. The church was renovated between 1993 and 1995, and the organ was also completely renewed.
