Maciejów ( German Matzdorf ) is a place of Gmina Kluczbork in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

Maciejów is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. Maciejów is located about ten kilometers northeast of the municipality seat Kluczbork and about 58 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

The Baryczka ( Bartsch Bach ) flows south of the village .

Neighboring towns of Maciejów are Pszczonki ( Schonke ) in the north, Pakoszów ( Donnersmark ) and Kobyla Góra ( Wesendorf ) in the southeast, Kujakowice Górne ( Ober Kunzendorf ) in the south and Łowkowice ( Lowkowitz ) in the west .

In the middle between Maciejów and Pakoszów lies Lipowa ( Lindenhof ).

history

The village of Matzdorf was first mentioned in 1409 as Mathiasdorf . In 1466 a scrap wood church with three bells was built in the village.

Matzdorf Castle was established in 1790 and a school in the village in 1836. In 1845 there was a Protestant church, a Protestant school, a castle, a distillery and another 36 houses in the village. In the same year, 422 people lived in Matzdorf, 165 of them Protestant and 7 Jewish. In 1869 there were 418 people in Matzdorf. In 1874 the Matzdorf district was founded. The first head of office was the manor owner Oscar von Rothkirch. Between 1874 and 1906 Johann Dzierzon lived in Matzdorf, where he continued his bee research.

In 1933 355 people lived in Matzdorf, in 1939 again 338 people. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Matzdorf fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . The place was subsequently renamed Maciejów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

Attractions

  • The Protestant Christ the King's Church is a scrap wood church and was built in the 16th century. A wooden church had stood in the same place since 1466. The baroque high altar was built in 1696. The church has been a listed building since 1953.
  • The Matzdorf Castle was from 1790 to 1800 in the style of classicism , designed by the architect Carl Gotthard Langhans built. The last lord of the castle was Kurt Dober. After 1945 the castle fell into ruin. In 1982 the first renovation measures began after the castle came into private hands. In 2006 the castle was completely renovated. The building has been a listed building since 1964.
  • The 3.5 hectare castle park has old trees. In 1976 the park was placed under monument protection.
