Borkowice ( German Borkowitz , 1936–1945 Borkenwalde ) is a place of Gmina Kluczbork in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

St. Joseph's Church

Borkowice is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. Borkowice is located about eight kilometers southwest of the municipality seat Kluczbork and about 45 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole.

Borkowice station , south of the town center, is on the Opole – Kluczbork railway line . Borkowice is located on the northeastern edge of the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park .

Neighboring towns of Borkowice are in the northwest Żabiniec ( Fabianswalde ) and in the southwest Bażany ( Basan ).

history

In 1845 there was a castle, a farm and 48 other houses in the village. In the same year 536 people lived in Borkowitz, 46 of them Protestants. In 1874 the district of Borkowitz was founded.

In 1925 there were 1021 people in Borkowitz, and in 1933 there were 1008 people. On April 27, 1936, the village was renamed Borkenwalde . In 1939 the village of Wachholdertal to the southeast is incorporated into the rural community of Borkenwalde. In 1939 there were 2,127 people in Borkenwalde. Until 1945 the village belonged to the district of Rosenberg OS

As a result of the Second World War, Borkenwalde fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . The place was subsequently renamed Borkowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. Between 1985 and 1987 the church of St. Josef am Friedhof was built. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

  • The Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph was built between 1985 and 1987. The church was built according to a design by architect Zdzisław Fiuk from Byczyna. Next to the church is a bell tower with a total of three flakes.
