Tauenzinow ( Polish Okoły , 1936-1945 Tauentzien OS ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Tauenzinow is located in the municipality of Murow in the Powiat Opolski (Opole district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Tauenzinow is about thirteen kilometers east of the municipality in Murow and about 23 kilometers north of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole . The place is in the middle of a large forest area with conifers, which is part of the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park .

The Budkowitzer Bach (Polish: Budkowiczanka ), a left tributary of the Stober (Polish: Stobrawa ), flows south of the village .

Tauenzinow is located on the now no longer used railway line Opole - Namysłów .

Districts

The settlement of Schwarzwasser (Polish: Czarna Woda ) and the hamlet of Buchendorf (Polish: Kupilas ) belong to the village of Tauenzinow .

East of Tauenzinow is the municipality seat Murow (Polish Murów ). In the north lies the hamlet of Schwarzwasser (Polish: Czarna Woda ). The hamlet of Kupilas, which belongs to the village, is located southwest of Tauenzinow . West of Tauenzinow is the place Krzywa Góra (dt. Blumenthal ), which belongs to the municipality Pokój .

history

The village of Tauenzinow was founded in 1772 as a colony in the course of the Frederician colonization. The settlers were mainly used for forest work. In 1775 a Protestant school was set up in the colony.

In 1845 there was a Protestant school and 39 other houses in the village. In 1845 there were 292 people in Tauenzinow, 50 of them Catholic. In 1874 the administrative district Murow was founded, to which Tauenzinow was incorporated.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 216 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and four for Poland. Tauenzinow remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 268 inhabitants. On May 19, 1936, the place was renamed Tauentzien OS . In 1939 the place had 258 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German town of Tauenzinow came under Polish administration, was renamed Okoły and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Okoły became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Opolski . In March 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Tauenzinow .

Old seals and stamps of the place show the iron of a scythe and the iron of a ploughshare placed upright side by side. The coat of arms thus indicates the agricultural character of the place.
