The municipality Murow ( Polish Gmina Murów ) is a rural municipality in the Powiat Opolski of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the village of the same name with 1287 inhabitants (2017).
geography
The community is located in Upper Silesia about 25 kilometers north of the district and voivodeship capital Opole (Opole) . Its main town is on the Opole – Namysłów railway line . The locations are located in a forest area that is part of the Stobrawski Landscape Park . One of the waters is the Budkowiczanka , a stream that flows to the Stobrawa (Stober) .
history
In 1945 the area came to Poland and in 1950 it became part of the Opole Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954 the Gmina Zagwiździe existed with its seat in Zagwiździe (Friedrichsthal) . From 1954 to 1972 there were u. a. the Gromadas Murów and Zagwiździe.
Gmina Murów has existed since 1973. From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to the smaller Opole Voivodeship .
On March 31, 2009, German place names were introduced in the municipality of Murow.
politics
Community leader
The head of the municipal administration is the municipality leader . So far this has been Andrzej Puławski. The regular election in October 2018 led to the following result.
- Michał Golenia ( German Minority Election Committee ) 41.0% of the vote
- Ewa Hasik (Election Committee “Our Community - Our Home”) 25.2% of the vote
- Andrzej Puławski (Election Committee “Our Municipality Murów”) 24.7% of the vote
- Andrzej Janas ( Koalicja Obywatelska ) 9.2% of the vote
After the previous incumbent Puławski had already failed in the first ballot, Golenia was able to prevail in the runoff election against Hasik and become the new mayor.
Municipal council
The municipal council consists of 15 members and is directly elected in single-person constituencies. The 2018 municipal council election led to the following result:
- Election Committee “Our Commune Murów” 30.0% of the vote, 6 seats
- Election Committee “Our Congregation - Our Home” 28.3% of the vote, 5 seats
- German minority election committee 28.1% of the votes, 3 seats
- Koalicja Obywatelska (KO) 10.7% of the votes, 1 seat
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 2.9% of the votes, no seat
Community partnerships
The community has entered into a partnership with Vallendar in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The rural community includes further hamlets and settlements that are assigned to the school authorities:
Bożejów (Emilienhütte), Czarna Woda (Schwarzwasser), Kęszyce (Konschütz), Mańczok (Mainczok) and Morcinek (Morczinek), Neuwedel (Święciny) and Wojszyn (Reilswerk).
