Neu Budkowitz ( Polish Nowe Budkowice , 1936–1945 Neu Baudendorf ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Neu Budkowitz is located in the municipality of Murow in the Opolski powiat in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Neu Budkowitz is about nine kilometers east of the municipality in Murow and about 25 kilometers north of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole . The place is located in the middle of a large forest area that belongs to the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park . The river Budkowitzer Bach (Polish Budkowiczanka ) flows through Neu Budkowitz , a left tributary of the Stober (Polish Stobrawa ).

The Jełowa – Kluczbork railway with the Lassowitz stop runs east of Dambinietz .

To the north of Neu Budkowitz lies the Alt Budkowitz (Polish Stare Budkowice ). Podewils (Polish: Kały ) is located in the south . In the east lies the village of Laskowitz ( Laskowice in Poland ), which belongs to the municipality of Gross Lassowitz .

The village of Neu Budkowitz was founded in 1764 on the site of a Vorwerk that belonged to Opole Castle . It originated in the course of the Frederician colonization in the sparsely populated forests north of Opole. The fields of the advance plant were divided between 14 colonists. The first settlers came from the nearby village of Lugnian . In 1783 the village had 14 farms and 81 residents. In 1845 368 people lived in Beu Budkowitz in a total of 55 houses.

In 1905 a school was built in Neu Budkowitz. In 1912 the village school had 125 Catholic students. In 1910 the village had 544 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 218 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 163 for Poland. Neu Budkowitz remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 454 inhabitants. On May 19, 1936 the place was renamed Neu Baudendorf . In 1939 the place had 438 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Nowe Budkowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Nowe Budkowice became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Opolski . In March 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Neu Budkowitz .
