history
The constituency of Innviertel was created with Law No. 29 of March 18, 1925 as part of the amendment to the state election regulations of March 18, 1919. By law, the constituency was formed from the judicial districts of Braunau am Inn , Engelhartszell , Mattighofen , Mauerkirchen , Obernberg am Inn , Raab , Ried im Innkreis , Schärding and Wildshut , with Ried being the seat of the electoral authority. While the state election regulations of 1919 still provided for eight constituencies, the number of constituencies was reduced to four with the change in the law in 1925. The constituency of Innviertel was created from the former constituency of Ried (constituency 4) and parts of the former constituency of Schärding (constituency 5). In 1949 the area of the constituency was finally equated with constituency 13 of the National Council electoral code, which, however, included the same judicial districts. With the O. Ö. Landtag election amendment in 1967, the area of the constituency was finally equated with the political districts of Braunau am Inn, Ried im Innkreis and Schärding.
