Neuwedel ( Polish Święciny ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Neuwedel is located in the municipality of Murow in the powiat Opolski ( Opole district ) in the Polish Voivodeship of Opole (Opole).

Geographical location
Neuwedel is about ten kilometers north of the municipality in Murow and about 35 kilometers north of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole . The place is located in the middle of a large forest area that belongs to the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park . The Bodländer Flössbach (Polish Bogacica ) runs south of Neuwedel .
Neighboring places
South of Neuwedel is the place Zedlitz (Polish Grabice ). In the east lies Plümkenau (Polish Radomierowice ). To the west is the village of Dąbrówka Dolna (Polish: Royal Dombrowka ), which belongs to the Pokój municipality .
history
The place was founded as a colony from 1773 to 1774 as part of the Frederician colonization. Neuwedel emerged as a dead straight street village and was named after the head forest master von Wedel.
In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 190 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and no one for Poland. Neuwedel remained with the German Empire . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was incorporated into the Silesian Voivodeship. On December 9, 1947, the place was renamed Święciny . In 1950 Święciny became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Opolski . In March 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Neuwedel .
