The Sønderborg – Tinglev railway is a single-track, electrified railway line in southern Denmark . It was part of the South Jutian Cross Railway , which ran from Sønderborg to Højer .

history

Gråsten Railway Station (2012)

The section from Sønderborg to Tinglev was built while North Schleswig was part of the German Empire . On July 15, 1901, the line was put into operation by the Prussian State Railways .

The railway line was taken over by the Danske Statsbaner (DSB) after the referendum in Schleswig in 1920 .

Until 1962, the railway line in Sønderborg had a connection to the then Amtsbanerne på Als ( German  Kreisbahn auf Alsen ).

In 1997 the line was electrified so that through intercity trains from Copenhagen to Sønderborg could be offered. These trains run every two hours.
