Bai Mass Taal

Bai-Mass M. Taal (born November 27, 1947 in Bathurst, now Banjul ) was Minister for Fisheries and Natural Resources ( Secretary of State for Fisheries and Natural Resources ) of the West African state of Gambia .

Life

After attending the Gambia High School from 1964 to 1967 Taal was then a science teacher at the junior high school. From 1971 to 1972 he went to South Eugene High School in the United States . Then to 1976 at Dartmouth College , where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science . At Duke University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies he trained in forestry until 1978 . This is followed by further courses at various universities overseas.

From 1976 he worked in the Gambian Ministry of Forestry (Forestry Department), where he was director from 1982 to 1991. Since 1991 he has worked for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

In October 2004 Taal was in the Cabinet as Minister of Fisheries and Natural Resources ( Secretary of State for Fisheries, Natural Resources and the Environment ) by the President Yahya Jammeh appointed and replaced susan waffa-ogoo in this office who was reinstated as Minister of Tourism. In 2005 the tasks were adjusted, the environment department was assigned to the Ministry of Forestry (now Secretary of State for Fisheries, Natural Resources ). In October 2006 Taal was replaced in this office by Yankuba Touray .

In June 2008 Taal became chairman of the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW).

Taal is married and has six children.

Awards

On July 22, 2006 Taal received the Order of the Republic of The Gambia with the rank of "Officer" (ORG).
