The Baker Point is a headland at the Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located on the south side of the entrance to Explorers Cove in the New Harbor of McMurdo Sound .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Cape in 1997 after the US chemist and marine biologist Bill James Baker of the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne , Florida , who conducted underwater studies in various areas of McMurdo between 1992 and 1993, 1993 and 1994, and 1996 and 1997 -Sunds performed.
