Cesare Biseo (born May 18, 1843 in Rome , † January 23, 1909 there ) was an Italian painter and illustrator of Orientalism .

Taught by his father Giovanni Battista Biseo in the painting trade, he initially occupied himself with wall painting .

Around 1870 he was invited to Egypt by the Ottoman governor Ismail Pasha to decorate his residence and other public buildings in Alexandria as well as the opera house in Cairo with wall paintings.

Fascinated by the Arab world, he and the painter Stefano Ussi accompanied Edmondo De Amicis' friend on the first Italian mission in Morocco in 1875 . Amici's travel impressions appeared with Biseo's illustrations in Milan in 1877. In 1877 he accompanied De Amicis to Constantinople and illustrated the book published in Milan in 1878. Biseo also created numerous copperplate engravings .

Since 1877 Biseo has also shown his oil paintings of oriental or historical content in salons in Naples , Rome and Turin .
