Balaban of the coat of arms Korczak (Polish Bałaban h. Korczak , Cyrillic Балабани гербу Корчак ) was a Ruthenian noble family in Poland-Lithuania in the 16th and 17th centuries .

The family may have originally come from Albania and settled in the Kingdom of Poland in the 15th century , first in Volhynia , then in Podolia and the area around Bracław . In the 16th century they put two bishops in Lwów and bought land in Galicia . In the 17th century, Alexander Balaban Starost was in Volhynia and Dionysios Balaban was the last metropolitan of Kiev before it was annexed to Russia.
